A productive hardneck with that classic rich, sweet flavor...especially when sauteed or diced up raw and infused into your favorite salad dressing. We call it, “Capt’n Killarney” around here. The bright silver bulbs have subtle purple streaking and average 6-12 large, beige cloves that store up to 6 months. The origins of Killarney are unclear; some suggest it is a selection of ‘German Red,’ others indicate it is a selection of ‘Spanish Roja’. Either way, it is a darn good garlic and grows wonderfully here in our east central, Idaho climate.
