A strong rocambole variety, Bavarian Purple comes with a little bite that comes on fast but doesn't linger.  It produces large, dark, purple skinned cloves. A very stable cultivar for growing in cold winter climates, it seems quite happy here in Idaho, even after a streak of -30 degree winter weather.  It is a medium to late keeper, storing around 8 months, depending on storage practices.  Averages about 6 seed-worthy cloves per bulb.
