Whoa. This purple stripe cultivar is hands down spectacular! A real show stopper. Its’ outer bulb wrappers can be smooth white, but the inner wrappers are purple streaked, making it a wonderful addition to farmers market stands. It has red-tipped cloves with marbled streaks on whitish or yellow-brown back ground and a very pleasant flavor with a mild spicy zing. Purchased in Samarkand, at a Uzbekistan bazaar in the late 1980s by John Swenson and now grown with love here in Central Idaho.
